We’re always delighted to answer your questions about fish and anything else in the 500+ items we carry in our store on 31st Avenue in downtown, Vernon BC. Here are a few of the questions we are frequently asked.. we hope you enjoy them!
Do you serve Fish and Chips?
Yes we do! Fresh halibut, Atlantic cod or sole, even snapper, pickerel, and ling cod. Lightly battered and fried and served hot with our home-made french fries. Please call ahead at least one hour and we’ll have it ready at the counter for you?
How do I know if the fish I am buying is sustainably sourced?
We only buy from sources we can trust. Ask us and we are happy to tell you where all our fish comes from. A Fine Kettle O’ Fish believes in supporting fish and seafood supply companies that share our sustainability goals. From fresh Vancouver Island oysters to whole fish, hand-cut fillets, lobster, and more, visit A Fine Kettle and enjoy a taste of the ocean.
Can you order lobsters from the East Coast or crab from Vancouver Island for me?
Yes. All year along, we are happy to pre-order lobster flown in from Canada’s East Coast – fresh-cooked or live. We can also order live Dungeness crab from Vancouver Island (we can cook for you, or pop the crab into the pot yourself!). Pre-booking for lobster and live crab is a must! Look for more information on our store blackboards!
Are you a restaurant?
No, we do not have space for dining in the shop, but we sell many take-out items you might see on the finest restaurants in BC! Try a slice of our amazing Salmon Pie, a halibut burger, one of our many frozen dinners, or take home a pizza for movie night! We know you are busy people – and we’re open 6 days a week from 9 am to 5 pm. Light the candles and enjoy a home feast – no fuss!
Why do you put glasses on your fish in the window?
